Site: Barnwood Park Arboretum
Client: Gloucester City Council Project: Cotswold Contractors were instructed to undertake the construction of a number of balancing ponds on a number of different sites, Barnwood park was just one of the porjects we completed for our client. Plans were drawn up for x3 ponds & work begun - The site was stripped of turf & top soil which was stockpiled for later use. Excavations quickly started, we come up against a few challenges of which were quickly rectified, we managed to discover a number of land drains which needed plugging to ensure the ponds would retain water. The length of this project was approx 3 weeks. |

Site: Cox's Meadow Spillway
Client: Cheltenham Borough Council Project: Cotswold Contractors were instructed to remove & replace the damaged soil stabilization matting at this flood overflow site. This project was one of our smaller jobs yet a fairly tricky one, our skilled staff took the decision to dig a trench at one side of the damaged matting, carefully excavating to break a clean edge from the undamaged matting. Our technique worked brilliant and the engineer for the environment agency was extremely surprised at how clean we had managed to cut the matting. Once completed, we reseeded the site using a specific mix. In whole this project took around 10 days. |

Site: Winston Churchill Memorial Gardens
Client: Cheltenham Borough Council Project: This small project was awarded to us as part of an EU funded scheme, the aim was to open up a once very enclosed park, not just for appearance but also for security for local residents. The picture speak for themselves, we completed tree & shrub clearance along with stump removal, lowering of an existing wall and some stock fencing with a pedestrian gate. This project took 1 week to complete. |

Site: Barnwood Park Arboretum
Client: Gloucester City Council Project: Cotswold Contractors were asked to prepare and seed ground at Barnwood following on from the balancing ponds we had built a few months before. We proceeded to shallow plough and power harrow the site in preparation for wildflower seeding. The main reason for ploughing shallow was to avoid exposing any of the blue clay that this site is notorious for. The wildflower was later seeded. |
